The tools on our bench

A hook knife, a straight knife, an axe and two stones. Why our kit stays small.

Green woodworking needs very little: an axe to rough out the blank, a straight knife for the outside, and a hook knife to hollow the bowl.

Two stones keep the edges keen. A sharp tool leaves a clean, glossy surface that needs no sanding.

Fewer tools means less to maintain, and more attention on the wood.
